Charlie
Miller loved every single word of abuse Motherwell fans screamed at him
last week — and he can't wait for more of the same from the Dundee supporters
at Tannadice today. The Dundee United new boy admitted being back
on the boos was music to his ears because it means he's on the up again
after his Watford woes. The former Rangers star swapped being a fringe
player at best with the English First Division side to become United's
main playmaker last week. And he is praying the jeers that taunted him
through- out his debut at Fir Park keep coming as he bids to help Alex
Smith's side climb the SPL table.
Miller
said: "Last week was good wasn't it? All the abuse gets me going. It's
great. It motivates me. although I get motivated even without the crowd.
"It helps me raise my game - and I'm going to get that wherever I go.
"Anywhere in Scotland you are going to be a target if you used to play
for Rangers. "I'm really looking forward to the Dundee derby. "OK, it's
not as big as the Old Firm games I've experienced before - but to fans
here there's no difference.
"It's
a massive game for both clubs for different reasons. There's a bit of
spice to it and that suits me fine. "If we can't get up for this then
we really have a problem." Miller admitted it was like a big reunion when
he walked into the Tannadice dressing room last week and is backing his
old pals to get United off the foot of the table. He said: "I know plenty
of the boys from way back. "We've got good players here and I honestly
believe we can get United back up the table. "We are going to have to
go on a five or six-game winning streak. And I'm sure we are capable of
it. "Silly mistakes cost us at Motherwell - but the ability is there throughout
the team." Miller is also desperate to repay boss Smith's faith in him
and provide the vital spark to United's play.
He said:
"That's my game. I'm not one of these guys who goes out for derby immortatity
by kicking people - for me it's about getting on the ball and making passes.
"I hope I can create for the team as well taking my fair share of chances.
"It was great to be back in Scottish football last week - and just good
to play on a Sat- urday again. I can't wait to face Dundee."
Miller
is set to be joined in the midfield by another return- ing exile, Jamie
Fullarton. The former St Mirren and Bastia star has joined on loan until
the end of the season from Crystal Palace, and is delighted to be back
in Scottish football after five years France and England. The 26-year-old
said: "I' been away from Scottish footbi for five years - so I jumped
the chance to come back ai play at Premier League level.
"I thoroughly
enjoyed my football in France and England but now I'm looking forward
this latest challenge. "It's a good period of tir for me and Dundee United
have a look at each other ai hopefully if I do well we c look at a longer
agreement."©Supergoals.com
