Eddie
Thompson last night made another bid to buy former Dundee United
chairman Jim McLean's majority shareholding in the club. The
millionaire grocery chain businessman has twice had offers rejected
for McLean's 41 per cent family stake. Now he is hoping it will
be third time lucky. Thompson said: "Having not received any response
to our initial enquiry dated October 17, I confirm that today
my lawyers submitted a formal offer to Jim McLean's lawyers to
buy the whole McLean family shareholding in Dundee United Football
Club.
"A time limit
has been applied to the offer and we hope to receive a suitable
response within that time. As the offer is subject to confidentiality
between both parties, no further details can be given at this
time."
